Matthew Hanson, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M. (NCCAOM)
Matthew Hanson received his Bachelor’s degree, with honors, from St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX and continued his studies at the Texas College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCTCM), the first and oldest school of acupuncture and Oriental medicine in Texas, where he received his Master’s in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
As a student, he worked in the herb room of Austin Acupuncture Clinic and TCTCM, tutored fellow students in several subjects including herbology, herbal formulations, point location, acupuncture energetics, microbiology and pharmacology.
His passion for learning led him to independently apply for, and be accepted to, the High Falls Gardens student internship program, where he engaged in summer field work at their Chinese medicinal herb garden in Philmont, NY.
He has had additional training in cosmetic acupuncture under Denise Ellinger, L.Ac., American Acupuncture Council approved instructor, former instructor and co-creator of Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture and current instructor of the ABC’s of Cosmetic Acupuncture, as well as training with Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad M.D, D.C., L.Ac., Ph.D the creator of Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Techniques (NAET).
The successful completion of the coursework for Craniosacral Therapy 1 through the Upledger Institute, and Lymphatic Drainage 1 & 2 through the Chikly Health Institute has allowed him to incorporate those therapies into his practice and he hopes to continue studying more advanced methods, as well as other modalities in the future.
Matthew is married to Patricia, who is also an acupuncturist, and is the father of Olive, their 3 year old daughter.
A certified Diplomate in Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, he is currently licensed to practice by the Texas State Board of Acupuncture Examiners, license number AC01331.
